We are building The Girl House:

A collection of personal narratives archived within a small house on wheels- a traveling interactive installation

our plan

Step 1: Gathering Narratives

This online stage is about introducing our project to you, building relationships, and growing the content for our installation.

We are asking for stories.

Stories of coming of age and learning sex, reflections on, and related to experience of sexual injustice.

We will be collecting electronic submissions through this website and as physical documents via mail service. Submissions are completely anonymous. You can share your story here

Step 2: Building the Girl House

This building stage is about physicality, creativity, exploration, and the  making of a literal space to hold the metaphorical one we are cultivating for this project.

We are building a house. A tiny house, on a 7x14’ trailer bed.

Yes, two twenty-somethings who haven’t constructed anything beyond IKEA furniture, have purchased a 8 ½ x18’ trailer, Googled “how to build a house,” ignored the haters, and are ferociously moving forward.

Step 3: The Installation

The installation stage is about sharing what we have gathered and built, growing the collective story, and exploring how we can integrate these stories into the public realm.

We will display the collected narratives within our Girl House in a variety of formats, and the house will travel around Tacoma, WA. The interactive installation will offer space for people to read, but also to speak and write; to share, and to build onto the installation and our story.

Follow our journey.
